This applescript can be called by eudora which will in turn call the TCS DISP client TCL script which will tell the tivo to display an "XXXXX sent you mail message" on the screen whenever someone sends you mail. This applescript REQUIRES the Eudora notify kit, which I have included. (Really hard to find this surfing the net) Getting it to work can be tricky to say the least. Here are the steps. 1) Start Eudora If you use Eudora 5.1, you need to get an earlier version to do the setup. You can continue to use 5.1 after setup is complete, but you need an earlier version to do the setup. I used Eudora Pro. 2) Drop the TCSConduit applescript on the Eudora notify kit applescript "Start Notifying" This tells Eudora to call the TCSConduit when an event occurs. You can now quit Eudora - if you needed to launch an earlier version, you don't need that version anymore. 3) Install the client script "TellTivo.tcl in the same directory as the tcl WISH application. 4) Test by sending yourself an email. Notes. I have seen very strange behavior getting this to work. It may require you to play with it a little. As much as a mac fan as I am, scripting the macintosh is a major weakness, IMHO. When you first start eudora, the "sender" portion of the message sent to the tivo may be incorrect. Seems to be a problem with the Eudora applescript interface. It works properly when new messages are sent.
